Hotel Post - in the Heart of Vienna

This gothic church is one of Vienna's landmarks. Romanesque in origin, its
construction began in the 12-th century.Later it was completely reconstructed in
the gothic style. The baroque altarpieces were added in the 18-th century. The
Cathedral is dedicated to St. Stephan, the first martyr of Christendom.

It is an interesting 5 minute walk on Roten Turm street to Stephansplatz, or 1 stop
on the U1, from Schwedenplatz.

The complex is also headquarters to the Atomic Energy Agency, CTBTO and
UNIDO

U1 direction Kagran. Exit at Kaisermühlen/Vienna International Center. 
Enter thru Checkpoint 1 for a tour of the premises or shop in the visitors´ center

A downhill walk on ´Laurenzerberg´ brings you straight from the hotel to the
Danube canal embankment, which is part of Vienna´s green recreation area,
including a bicycle route to other recreation resorts.

The Imperial Palace was once the administrative heart of the Austro-Hungarian
Monarchy besides housing the downtown imperial apartments and imperial
treasure  collection. Today it houses the presidential offices.

Simply walk across the inner city of Vienna, or take the Ring Tram circle line.

Church of St. Charles Borromaeus by Fischer von Erlach: For lovers of the
baroque art this church was built 1716-37

Walk down on Roten Turm street and Kärntner street, or: take 2 stops on
the U1, boarding on Schwedenplatz, exit at station Karlsplatz/Oper

Leopold museum, MUMOK, Kunsthalle are the modern complement to the
Museums of Natural and Art History across the road

Walk up and through the Imperial Palace, cross the `Ring´ and the park between
the Museums of Art and Natural History. Or: Take 2 stops on the U3,
boarding on Stephansplatz. Exit at station Volkstheater

Line 1 and 2 are circle lines taking you around the ´Ring´ and the many
sightseeing pinpoints like the Opera House, the Imperial Palace, the Parliament,
the University, the Museums of Natural and Art History, the Urania observatory etc.

Walk down to Schwedenplatz and board the tram
